The European Commission has not received any new information regarding the condition of the Druzhba oil pipeline, which has been out of operation since the end of January after being damaged as a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine.
According to Report's European bureau, EU spokesperson on energy affairs Anna-Kaisa Itkonen stated this in Brussels.
According to her, the European Commission is in contact with the Ukrainian side, as well as EU member states, primarily Slovakia and Hungary, regarding the situation with the damaged oil pipeline.
"The security of energy supply to European Union countries remains our priority. However, when it comes to the operation of the pipeline, I have no new information," she stated.
On March 3, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán published a letter addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on social media. In the letter, he accused Ukraine of deliberately halting supplies for political reasons.
He called on the EU to pressure Ukraine to not undermine the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia and to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Association Agreement.
