Iran and Oman are holding talks on establishing a new mechanism for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and transit conditions there will no longer remain the same as before, said Ali Bagheri, deputy secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, during the International Security Forum in Russia, Report informs via Interfax.
"Specifically regarding the Strait of Hormuz, there is no doubt that the conditions and procedures for passage through it will no longer be the same. A completely different framework will emerge," Bagheri said.
He noted that Iran and Oman, as coastal states, are negotiating a new mechanism for regulating passage through the strategically important waterway.
