IRGC warns ships not to approach Strait of Hormuz - UPDATED

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Report, the statement was published on the IRGC's Telegram channel.

"Due to Israel's actions in Lebanon and the United States' violation of its commitments regarding the ceasefire, the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessels," the statement said.

The IRGC stressed that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and that ships should not approach the waterway.

"Otherwise, their safety will be at risk," the statement warned.

Iran has announced the closure of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz due to the United States' failure to fulfill the first clause of a ceasefire agreement.

According to Report, citing the Fars News Agency, the announcement was made by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.

The decision was taken in response to Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon. Iranian officials described the measure as a "first step" and warned that additional actions could follow if tensions continue to escalate.

In its statement, the headquarters said that any further measures would depend on whether the opposing side fulfills its obligations under the agreement.
