Internet shutdown in Iran exceeds 1,000 hours

The internet shutdown in Iran, linked to a joint operation by the United States and Israel, has surpassed 1,000 hours.
According to Report, citing NetBlocks digital monitoring data, although Iran's domestic network continues to function-supporting local messaging apps, banking platforms, and other services-access to the global internet has remained heavily restricted since early February.
It should be recalled that on February 28, the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran, carrying out airstrikes on a number of cities. On the same day, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed as a result of the strikes.
In response, Iran launched missile attacks on Israeli territory and targeted US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the United States, and their allies reached a two-week ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8, 2026. Talks between the United States and Iran are scheduled to take place in Pakistan on April 11.
