The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) should fully utilize its potential to enhance multilateral cooperation, Acting Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs Nutan Kapoor Mahawar said during the 13th meeting of the CICA Think Tank Forum in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that now is the time to focus on the CICA's capabilities in the context of reforming multilateral cooperation and strengthening regional integration.
Mahawar noted that Asia and other regions of the world still lack a pan-continental security coordination system.
At the same time, the region faces threats associated with protracted conflicts and tensions in the Indo-Pacific, Southeast Asia, Afghanistan and West Asia, where threats to human security are most acute.
"The current global geopolitical upheavals are changing state behavior and approaches to security in unprecedented ways. At the same time, crisis situations create opportunities for creative solutions," she emphasized.
