India plans to buy Javelin anti-tank missile system

India ‌plans ​to ​buy the ⁠battle-tested ​Javelin anti-tank ​missile system, ​US ​Ambassador to India ‌Sergio ⁠Gor said ​on ​Friday, Report informs via Reuters.

The agency provided no further details regarding the planned deal. Furthermore, the response from Washington to the proposal remains unknown.

The FGM-148 Javelin is an American man-portable anti-tank guided missile system. The FGM-148 rockets operate on a "fire-and-forget" principle and are capable of effectively destroying all types of armored vehicles.

The cost of a single missile ranges from $200,000 to $250,000 (reaching up to $300,000 in export contracts).
