Greece plans $4 billion military procurement from US

Greece will acquire $4 billion in military equipment and hardware from the United States under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

According to Report citing the Greek Foreign Ministry, the announcement came in a joint statement issued following the sixth round of the Greece-US Strategic Dialogue in Athens.

The two sides said the acquisitions are intended to support Greece's long-term defense planning and improve interoperability between the armed forces of both countries. Athens and Washington also plan to explore future cooperation opportunities in the defense industry, including innovative technologies.

In addition, the sides finalized arrangements for Greece's participation in a partnership program with the Florida National Guard Bureau. As part of expanded defense cooperation, Greece will also receive US-made Stryker armored vehicles.

The strategic dialogue was co-chaired by Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The parties agreed to continue strengthening defense and security cooperation and expand collaboration in combating terrorism and illegal migration.
