Germany has recalled its ambassador from Russia for consultations after Berlin accused a pro-Russian group of a cyber attack on the email accounts of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Report informs via Kommersant that on May 3, the German Foreign Ministry summoned the charge d'affaires of the Russian Embassy in the country in connection with the alleged hacking of the email accounts of SPD board members.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, as well as the European Union and NATO, announced a connection between the hacker group APT28, which is accused of hacking the email accounts of party board members, and the Russian General Staff.
