Germany moves to expel Russian diplomatic staff, families

German authorities have decided to expel 150 Russian nationals - employees of several diplomatic missions and their family members - following several drone-related incidents at Leipzig Airport, the Russian Embassy in Germany said.

According to Report, the embassy questioned whether the discovery of a damaged drone of unknown origin that had caused no harm constituted sufficient grounds for the urgent expulsion of more than 150 employees of Russian missions and their family members, as well as for disrupting bilateral cultural cooperation.

The embassy described the German government's actions as a "mistaken and extremely dangerous course."

Germany had earlier decided to close Russia's Consulate General in Bonn.
