Georgian PM backs Trump amid controversial Zelenskyy meeting

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has voiced his support for US President Donald Trump following a highly controversial meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Report, Kobakhidze shared his stance in a Facebook post, stating that the political divide between a “party of war” and a “party of peace” had become even clearer.

"I am not referring solely to the debate between [Donald] Trump and [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, but to the reactions it provoked. President Trump and his peace efforts were swiftly condemned by those responsible for the bloody war [in Ukraine]—those who have sacrificed thousands of Ukrainian lives," Kobakhidze wrote.

He went on to assert that the so-called "global war party" and the "deep state" would not easily let go of the war in Ukraine.

"For three years, we have been saying that the US and the 'global war party' are not the same. Yet our opponents have worked tirelessly to equate them. The battle between the forces of war and peace has entered a decisive phase. Let’s hope this struggle ends in a victory for peace," he concluded, wishing Donald Trump strength and resilience in what he called a difficult fight.
