The head of Niger’s ruling National Council for the Safeguard of the Fatherland, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, said that a single currency may be created jointly with Burkina Faso and Mali, Report informs referring to AFP.
“Currency is a sign of sovereignty... (Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali) are involved in the process of restoring full sovereignty... There can no longer be any question of our countries being a ‘cash cow’ for France,” Tchiani said.
However, the general did not provide details about the possible introduction of a single currency.
