The United States covertly carried out a four-month mine-clearing operation in the Strait of Hormuz, primarily at night, Report informs, citing the Financial Times.
According to the newspaper, despite exchanges of strikes between the United States and Iran around the Strait of Hormuz in recent months, Washington was also conducting a covert operation in the strategic waterway.
US Navy special operations divers, robotic boats and specialized underwater vehicles were deployed to the strait, mainly at night, as part of the four-month mission.
The divers located mines with the help of robotic boats and underwater vehicles equipped with towed sonar arrays, the FT said.
The newspaper noted that no US military personnel were killed during the mine-clearing operation itself.
