French President condemns US decision on Golan heights

US decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan heights violates international law. Report informs citing the RIA Novosti that the due statement came by French President Emmanuel Macron.
"The President of the Republic stressed that the recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan, the occupied territory, is contrary to international law and only contributes to tension in the region," — said in a statement of the Elysee Palace following the meeting of Macron and king Abdullah II of Jordan.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed a document recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan heights at a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
