France’s left-wing party La France Insoumise (France Unbowed) plans to submit a motion to remove President Emmanuel Macron from office on September 23, Report informs.
Party leader Jean-Luc Melenchon made the announcement during an interview with France Inter radio.
“A year ago, we already raised the issue of the president’s resignation. Now we will do it again on September 23 and, in addition to a vote of no confidence — which may be irrelevant by then if the government has already collapsed — we will submit a proposal to remove Macron from power,” Melenchon said.
In 2024, La France Insoumise launched an impeachment attempt against Macron, but it failed. At the time, a parliamentary committee in the National Assembly (the lower house of parliament) rejected the resolution, with only 15 votes in favor and 54 against.
