France is tightening the rules for travel to and from the UK in connection with the spread of the omicron coronavirus strain, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
“Amid the extremely rapid spread of the omicron strain in the United Kingdom, the French government has decided to reinstate good reasons for travel to and from the United Kingdom and to strengthen the requirements for checks on departure and arrival,” the French government said in a communiqué.
A compelling reason to travel from France to the UK and back will be required for non-vaccinated and vaccinated citizens.
In addition, a COVID-19 test valid for 24 hours is required.
Travelers from the UK must register in advance on the Internet platform before traveling, which will help determine their address of stay in France. Arrivals from the UK will have to undergo compulsory self-isolation, which can be canceled after 48 hours, subject to a negative coronavirus test.
The UK reported 78,600 new infections with coronavirus on December 15, a record high throughout the pandemic, with omicron strain responsible for 4,700 cases. The total number of infections with the new strain has exceeded 10,000.
