France, Syria begin process to return seized Assad funds to Damascus

France and Syria have launched the process of returning €51 million ($58.29 million) confiscated from former Syrian president Bashar al‑Assad's uncle, Rifaat al‑Assad, back to Damascus, Report informs via Al‑Hadath.
The issue was discussed during talks in Damascus between French President Emmanuel Macron and Syria's transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
It was also noted that France will provide technical assistance to Syria's Central Bank as part of the process.
Bashar al‑Assad fled to Russia with his family in December 2024 after his government collapsed following a military coup.
