France summons Iranian chargé d'affaires over attack on diplomats in Tehran

Iran's chargé d'affaires in France was summoned to the French Foreign Ministry over an attack on two French diplomats working in Tehran on Sunday, Report informs, citing BFMTV.

The TV channel said the Iranian diplomat was told that France strongly condemned what it described as a deliberate attack.

France expects the Iranian authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident, punish those responsible and ensure the security of French facilities and staff in line with their international obligations, BFMTV said.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot earlier said he had told his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi that the attack was an extremely serious and unacceptable violation of the inviolability of French staff and would not go without consequences.
