France says no reason to suspend use of AstraZeneca vaccine

French Health Minister Olivier Veran has assured the French population that there is no reason to suspend vaccination with AstraZeneca jab, which has raised concerns in several EU countries about a possible side effect of blood clots in recent days, Report informs referring to Interfax.

“According to the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products, which follows the recommendations of the European Medicines Agency, there is no need to suspend vaccination using AstraZeneca jab,” the minister said.

“Systematically, every time there are allegations of serious adverse effects, investigations are carried out. For five million Europeans, 30 people have bleeding complications. Each case history of these patients has been analyzed to find a causal link to vaccination,” he noted.

He said that statistically, the balance of benefits and risks is quite encouraging.
