Former French prime minister Jean Castex was arrested at the Montpellier gendarmerie on charges of forgery and embezzlement of public funds, BFMTV said, citing a judicial source, Report informs via Agenzia Nova.
“There is no notion of personal enrichment,” the source said.
The arrest was triggered as part of an investigation into decisions taken by Castex when he was president of the Community of Municipalities of Conflent Canigo, in the Eastern Pyrenees. Castex is now president of Rato, the public transport company for Paris and its suburbs.
