France boosts forces against massive wildfires

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has announced the deployment of additional military units to combat wildfires in the country's southwest, Report informs, citing Sky News.

It was noted that 15 more units will join those already operating, bringing the total number of servicemen in wildfire zones to over 1,000.

The prime minister added that the armed forces' medical service will also be mobilized to assist vulnerable groups, while police officers have been deployed to aid evacuations.

The wildfires in southwest France have already devastated 14,000 hectares of land, marking the most destructive disaster in the country in the past 50 years.
