Former Sudanese PM dies of COVID-19

Former Sudanese Prime Minister and leader of the opposition Al-Umma party Sadiq al-Mahdi has died of a coronavirus at the age of 84, Report informs, referring to the local newspaper Al-Sudani.
The publication notes that COVID-19 was diagnosed in al-Mahdi in early November. The politician's condition worsened on Wednesday.
Al-Arabiya television quoted sources as saying that the former Sudanese prime minister passed away in the UAE.
Sadiq al-Mahdi has twice served as PM of Sudan (1966-1967 and 1986-1989). He was one of the most influential leaders of the Sudanese opposition during the rule of Omar al-Bashir.
