European Commission plans to transfer €90B to Ukraine by end of 2027

The European Commission (EC) plans to transfer €90 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine by the end of 2027 and sees no reason to postpone payments until 2028, EC Spokesperson Balazs Ujvari stated, according to Report's Brussels bureau.

He made the remark at a briefing while commenting on the announcement of the first tranche of €3.2 billion under the new support mechanism for Ukraine.

"Despite the program starting later than expected, the current financing schedule remains unchanged," Ujvari said.

The spokesperson noted that the EC had initially aimed to begin payments in the second quarter of this year.

"Today we are still in the second quarter, so in that sense we are acting in line with the schedule. The plan is to provide €45 billion in 2026 and another €45 billion the following year," he added.
