EU reaches ceiling in issue of sanctions against Russia

The EU has reached the ceiling on the imposition of sanctions against Russia, Virginijus Sinkevicius, European Commissioner for Environment, said in an interview with Ziniu radijas radio station, Report informs.
“I’ve been saying for a long time that the sanctions have reached their ceiling, and we can’t expect any innovations,” the politician said.
He also added that in the future, only work on detailing the already introduced restrictions is possible, since all “important steps have been taken.”
On December 16, the Council of the European Union approved the ninth package of anti-Russian sanctions. The released statement said that the new restrictions “are aimed at further hitting the Russian economy and its ability to continue aggression.”
