EU freezes Russian assets worth €17.5B

The EU, as part of sanctions against Russia, has frozen assets worth 17.5 billion euros to date, Representative of the European Commission (EC) Christian Wiegand said on ORF radio, Report informs.
“We have made progress, in April we started with about 6.7 billion, and today this amount is already 17.5 billion euros,” Wiegand said, referring to the freezing of Russian assets.
According to the representative of the EC, the sanctions affected the assets of 1,350 individuals and organizations.
Most blockings were carried out in Germany, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Ireland, Italy and Austria, he added.
