The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has risen to nearly 800, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a briefing at the agency's headquarters.
There have now been 2,073 confirmed cases, of which 796 have resulted in death, he said.
According to the WHO chief, the current outbreak is the third-largest Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's history.
He added that over the past month, the virus has spread more rapidly than during any previous Ebola outbreak in the country.
