Dima Al-Khatib: UNOSSC looks to deepen partnership with Azerbaijan

The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) looks forward to further deepening its partnership with the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) and the Azerbaijani government, UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib said in a video address to participants of the conference "Strengthening Global Solidarity through Humanitarian Assistance and Development Cooperation."

Report quotes her as saying solidarity takes on real meaning when countries share solutions, strengthen each other's institutions and adapt knowledge to local priorities.

"Such cooperation is built on reciprocity and trust. This approach recognizes that every country has both capabilities and needs. Today, financial pressures, the impact of climate shocks, technological realities and persistent inequality are putting development progress to the test. South-South and triangular cooperation offer a practical response to these challenges through country-driven partnerships based on national ownership, mutual respect and mutual benefit," she said.

Al-Khatib added that the launch of the Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation will be officially announced on September 11. The alliance will connect countries seeking solutions with partners offering knowledge, expertise and catalytic support.

"We look forward to further deepening the partnership between UNOSSC and AIDA, as well as with the Azerbaijani government," Al-Khatib said.
