Deputy Secretary of State: US will continue to work with partners to support Ukrainian people

The United States will continue to work with other countries to meet the needs of Ukraine and support the Ukrainian people, US Deputy Secretary of State Jose Fernandez said today during an online speech at the Transatlantic Thought Leaders Forum (TFLF), Report informs.

According to him, Ukraine can definitely count on the United States: "President Biden made it clear that we are in solidarity with this country. In December, we agreed to provide $45 billion worth support to Ukraine. This aid is not only military, but also humanitarian".

The US Deputy Secretary of State emphasized that Europe managed to reduce its dependence on Russian gas due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"It was not easy and had its consequences, but Europe is acting with one voice to support Ukraine," he added.

According to Fernandez, Putin thought he could violate European security, but he was wrong: "We are doing everything to provide Ukraine with assistance, to help Ukrainian refugees."
