Death toll in Lebanon reaches 3,526 since early March

The number of people killed as a result of Israeli strikes on Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 3,526, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said on X, according to Report.

"Over the same period, another 10,733 people were injured," the ministry noted.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran and carried out strikes on several cities. The operation led to an escalation in the Middle East and drew countries of the Persian Gulf into the conflict, as well as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

After the Lebanese radical group Hezbollah entered the war on Iran"s side by launching rockets and drones at Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out strikes on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut, where militant infrastructure is located. Israel also expanded its ground operation in southern Lebanon.

US President Donald Trump said on April 16 that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire starting at 17:00 Eastern Time. On April 24, he stated that the truce would be extended for three weeks.

In mid-May, a State Department spokesperson said on social media platform X that the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel would be extended for 45 days.

On June 4, the US State Department said that Israel and Lebanon, following talks in Washington on June 2–3, had reached an agreement to implement the terms of the ceasefire.
