Death toll from Nepal landslide rises to 1,403

The death toll from a devastating landslide in Nepal has risen to 1,403.

According to Report, citing Xinhua, Nepal's Disaster Risk Reduction Authority announced the figure on September 16.

The authority said 6,150 people remain missing, while search and rescue operations are continuing.

According to its latest report, 13,742 people have been rescued so far.

The natural disaster struck northern Nepal on the morning of August 26. Flooding triggered by the landslide sent a powerful flow of rock debris more than 70 kilometers along a riverbed at high speed, inundating a vast area.

In China, 43 people were killed and 519 remain missing.
