Death toll from heavy rains in Pakistan rises to 109

Since June 26, torrential rains and related incidents in Pakistan have claimed the lives of at least 109 people, while 362 others have been injured, according to the country's National Disaster Management Authority, Report informs.

The highest number of casualties was recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where 55 people died. In Punjab province, 36 fatalities were reported.

Floodwaters have damaged nearly 800 buildings, more than 200 of which were completely destroyed. Since late June, rescue teams have carried out 148 operations, saving close to 4,000 people.

Pakistan's monsoon season typically lasts from June to September. While heavy rainfall is crucial for agriculture, it often leads to floods and other natural disasters.
