Death toll from Ebola virus in DR Congo exceeds 2,600

The number of people who have died after contracting the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 2,642, according to the National Institute of Public Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, cited by Report.
"The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has increased to 5,514. Over the past 24 hours, 55 new cases and 23 deaths were recorded, while 18 people recovered. Thus, since the outbreak began, the total number of cases has reached 5,514, with 2,642 deaths," the institute said.
