Cuban FM accuses US of trying to 'suffocate an entire nation'

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla has condemned Washington's decision to extend the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba for another year, Report informs, citing his post on X.

Rodríguez stated that prolonging the so‑called "Trade with the Enemy Act" until September 2027 is not a minor administrative measure but proof that the US is persisting in its policy of "suffocating an entire nation."

He stressed that the decision comes at "the cruellest moment of the US onslaught against Cuba in recent years" and reaffirmed Havana's rejection of the embargo, which he described as a genocidal policy maintained for more than six decades.

The minister emphasized that Cuba strongly condemns the extension of the blockade, viewing it as part of a long‑standing campaign against the Cuban people.
