Cuba says US blockade caused $8.83B in losses over past year

The US trade, economic and financial blockade caused Cuba more than $8.83 billion in losses from March 2025 through February 2026, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla said at a press conference, Report informs.

Rodríguez said the latest figure was 7% higher than in the previous reporting period.

He added that the total damage caused by the blockade over more than 60 years had exceeded $178.7 billion at current prices, up 4.7% from the figure cited in the previous report.

The foreign minister said the report would be submitted for consideration by the UN General Assembly.

The next vote on the resolution calling for an end to the US blockade of Cuba is scheduled to be held in New York on October 27-28.
