US Central Command (CENTCOM) has rejected claims that American strikes on Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in the Strait of Hormuz were an "act of aggression."
According to Report, CENTCOM shared a post on X regarding this matter.
"Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed in a recent statement that strikes by US forces to prevent the IRGC from placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz were an "act of aggression." This claim is absolutely FALSE.
US forces took limited, precise action against IRGC minelaying forces posing an imminent threat in the Strait of Hormuz. In essence, Iran created the threat and the US military eliminated it to protect civilian mariners, commercial shipping, and the free flow of global commerce," reads the post.
Earlier, US forces struck two missile launchers located on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. According to American sources, the IRGC was preparing to use those launchers to fire rockets equipped with naval mines.
Following the strike, Iran carried out a missile attack on US military facilities in Jordan. The US side reported that the majority of the missiles were intercepted.
