Sweden's cooperation with Türkiye in the fight against terrorism is a necessary condition for Ankara's approval of Sweden's NATO accession, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said after meeting with his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billström, Report informs via TASS.
“At the meeting with my Swedish colleague Billström, we reminded him of the necessary steps to be taken to join NATO. Results-oriented cooperation in countering terrorism is mandatory,” Cavusoglu tweeted.
Sweden and Finland applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance in May 2022, but Türkiye blocked their accession process, demanding that they list Kurdish organizations as terrorists.
