Canada on Tuesday introduced a bill in the Senate that will ban Russian President Vladimir Putin and some 1,000 other members of his government and military from entering the country as it continues to ratchet up sanctions after the invasion of Ukraine.
"In the face of the Putin regime's brutal attack, Canada stands with Ukraine, and we will hold Russia accountable for its crimes," Mendicino said.
"That's why we just announced that we're banning roughly 1,000 Russians – including Putin and his accomplices – from entering Canada," Mendicino said.
"We will continue to exhaust all options to uphold freedom and democracy, punish Russia and support Ukraine," he said.
