Brazil's president proposes direct contact with Trump

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva proposed establishing a direct communication line with US President Donald Trump without intermediaries, in order to reduce the influence of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Brazilian leader's advisers announced, Report informs, citing CNN Brasil.

According to the channel's sources, in recent weeks Lula da Silva expressed dissatisfaction with Rubio's actions and initiated a proposal for a phone conversation with Trump to weaken the Secretary of State's position.

The Brazilian President suggested to Trump that they maintain direct contact without the involvement of US or Brazilian intermediaries.

Sources also mentioned that Lula da Silva stated Trump had been receiving distorted information about the Brazilian government that did not reflect reality.

It was noted that Lula da Silva's main concern is Washington's attempts to interfere in the October presidential elections.

The Presidential Administration of Brazil expressed hope that if Lula da Silva is re-elected in 2026, relations between the two countries will improve. Authorities also indicated that if he remains in office for another four years, he would be ready to meet Trump during an official visit in 2027.
