Azerbaijani journalists visit Israel-Lebanon border

A group of Azerbaijani journalists visited Israel's northern border and familiarized themselves with the situation in the border areas with Lebanon, as well as the main challenges associated with the presence of Hezbollah in the area.

According to a Report correspondent, Sarit Zehavi, founder and president of the Alma Research and Education Center, briefed the journalists on the current situation along the border.

"The change in the political situation in Syria and Lebanon has weakened Hezbollah. In principle, Israel and the Lebanese government share a common interest in disarming the group. Therefore, we hope for a favorable outcome," she said.

Following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023, regular exchanges of fire began along the Israel-Lebanon border between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah. On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for shelling Israeli positions in the area of the disputed Shebaa Farms, after which Israel launched retaliatory strikes. Since then, tensions have periodically flared along the border.
