By 2050, the population of Kazakhstan's new city of Alatau is expected to reach 1.87 million, with the number of jobs reaching about 1 million.
Report informs that Arseniy Pirozhkov, a representative of Almaty Region Master Plan, said this during WUF13 in Baku.
"About 1-2 billion people live within six-hour accessibility of the city. We want to use this potential by attracting people for work, living and tourism," the company representative said.
According to him, the Alatau project has been developed over 15-20 years, while at the initial stage the master plan for the area was prepared by Singapore-based company Surbana Jurong.
He also said the city will consist of four districts, each with its own functional specialization.
