Around 200,000 people take part in 'Block Everything' protest in France

French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau stated that about 200,000 people took part on Wednesday in mass demonstrations across the country as part of the "Block Everything" protest movement.

Report informs via Ouest-France that Retailleau gave this figure following the evening meeting of the interministerial crisis committee. Earlier, the French Ministry of the Interior reported 175,000 protesters nationwide.

The largest trade union confederation, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), claimed that the number of protesters was 250,000.

September 10 was marked by demonstrations, rallies, and blockades of roads, businesses, institutions, and railway stations both in large and small French cities.

The main target of the protests was the government"s economic policy. The demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron.

Protesters often clashed with police, and their actions escalated into disorder.

In turn, the Interior Minister declared the failure of the plans "of those who wanted to block the country" and thanked the security forces for what he considered their successful fulfillment of duties.
