Argentina's chief of cabinet resigns amid illicit enrichment claims

Argentina's Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni has announced his resignation amid allegations of illicit enrichment.

Report informs, citing local newspaper La Nación, that this was stated in an open letter addressed by the politician to President Javier Milei.

Adorni said the relentless attacks he had faced from the media had forced him to ask for support so that the matter could be brought to an end and protection could be ensured for him and his family.

In the letter, the outgoing chief of cabinet categorically denied owning luxury real estate attributed to him, as well as the existence of fake government contracts involving his wife.

According to La Nación, an investigation was launched against Adorni after reports were published about undeclared assets and expensive trips. Prosecutors were particularly interested in his wife's flight to New York on the presidential plane, although she holds no position in government structures.

At first, the chief of cabinet denied the media reports, but later admitted that he had made a mistake by failing to include around $300,000 in savings in his asset declarations.

Adorni had served as Argentina's chief of cabinet since October 2025.
