Al Hadath: Ali al-Amoudi elected head of Hamas in Gaza Strip

Ali al-Amoudi, who previously headed the organization's media department, has become the new leader of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Report informs.

In addition, the movement appointed its leader in the West Bank, with Zaher Jabarin taking up the position, Al Hadath television channel noted.

Earlier, Hamas announced the election of Khalil al-Hayya as head of the movement's political bureau. Prior to that appointment, he led the radicals in the Palestinian enclave.

The post of Hamas leader in Gaza had remained vacant following the liquidation of Yahya Sinwar in October 2024, when Israeli forces struck a residential building in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Sinwar had assumed the role after Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in an Israeli operation at his residence in Tehran in July 2024.
