Afghanistan calls for emergency meeting of UN Security Council

Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the crisis in the country, calling the situation critical, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.
He also stressed during a regional conference in Doha that the success achieved so far is under threat.
The confrontation between government forces and the Taliban militants in Afghanistan has continued for several years, and the militants in recent months have seized significant territories in rural and border areas and launched an offensive against large cities.
