16 Bangladeshi workers killed in factory fire in Riyadh

Sixteen Bangladeshi migrant workers were killed in a major fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Saudi Arabia.
According to Report, citing Reuters, the fire broke out on Sunday in the Musa Sanaiya industrial area in Riyadh.
Bangladesh"s Foreign Ministry is monitoring the situation. Embassy officials in Riyadh are coordinating with Saudi authorities to complete the necessary procedures for repatriating the victims' bodies.
Bangladesh's Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury has instructed relevant agencies to arrange the repatriation of the bodies as soon as possible and provide government assistance and compensation to the victims' families.
Around 3.5 million Bangladeshi nationals live in Saudi Arabia, which remains the largest destination for Bangladeshi migrant workers. Last year, they sent more than $2.7 billion in remittances back home.
