Sahiba Gafarova meets with newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, has met with Lu Mei, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Azerbaijan, Report informs.

During the meeting, Sahiba Gafarova stated that Azerbaijan and China actively cooperate in all areas, and alongside the political sphere, successful collaborative relationships exist in other fields as well. She emphasized that today the relations between the two countries have reached their highest stage of development - the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

During the conversation, the importance of President Ilham Aliyev's state visit to China was noted, and it was emphasized that the "Joint Statement on Establishing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China" signed between the two countries is another indicator of the high level of relations.

At the meeting, it was brought to attention that relations between parliaments constitute an important component of relations between countries, and satisfaction was expressed with the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, including relations between friendship groups and committees of the parliaments. It was stated that issues regarding cooperation between parliaments are reflected in the Joint Statement .

The Chinese ambassador stated that during her diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan, she will make efforts to further develop relations between legislative bodies, along with other areas.
