Anti-tank and anti-personnel mines laid by Armenia during the period of occupation in the liberated Azerbaijani territories currently pose a serious threat to the life and health of people, member of the Supervisory Board of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations Azer Allahveranov said at the conference ‘Joining efforts for Azerbaijan’s sake without mines,’ Report informs.
He noted that NGOs operating in the country have repeatedly made statements and appeals to the international community to put an end to this situation.
Allahveranov noted that the mine problem existing in the liberated territories not only slowed down the return of internally displaced persons to their homeland, but also claimed many lives or led to lifelong disability.
