Farid Shafiyev: Azerbaijan's defense and security are built on its army

Azerbaijan's defense and security are built on the strength of its armed forces, Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), said, as quoted by Report.

Speaking at the presentation of the report on Azerbaijani army's peacekeeping operations, jointly prepared by the Center and the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Shafiyev said that Azerbaijan's emergence as a middle power was the result of three decades of sustained efforts that enabled the country to liberate its territories from occupation and ensure stable economic development.

Shafiyev added that Azerbaijan has made a significant contribution to international security over many years.

"Azerbaijan has carried out peacekeeping missions in Iraq, Kosovo and other countries," he said.
