Azerbaijani Army officers: There were mercenaries within Armenian armed formations

During the Patriotic War, mercenaries also fought in Gubadli within the Armenian armed formations, Lieutenant of the Land Forces (commandos) of the Ministry of Defense Shamkhal Huseynov told Report's employee seconded to Gubadli.

He recalls that on October 2, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces had already approached the outskirts of Jabrail:

"The Armenians had concrete trenches on Mount Tulus, located in Jabrayil. Their battalion was located just behind those trenches. When we forced the enemy to retreat from Fuzuli, they settled on the heights in Jabrayil. Fights erupted, but we managed to overcome enemy in this direction despite difficulties.

Having entered the military unit of the Armenian armed forces located in Jabrayil, Azerbaijani armyt devisions found very important documents and combat maps, as well as ammunition.

Major of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Ibrahim Aliyev also showed courage in the battles for the liberation of the Gubadli region.

According to the officer, one of the main places where the Armenians defended themselves was the territory of the Gubadli region:

"Heights 831 and 833 are located here. The enemy was stationed on these heights, which are the key to the city of Gubadli. As a result of the attack by our units on the road leading from Gubadli towards the Goris region of Armenia, Armenian cars and armored vehicles, as well as their manpower were ambushed. I would like to emphasize the command of Colonel Shukur Hamidov in the battles in this direction. He led us and died heroically."
