Yusifova: Baku developing international cooperation in digitalization of cultural heritage

Azerbaijan attaches great importance to international cooperation in the digital transformation of cultural heritage, Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova said at the opening of the panel session "Cultural Heritage and Modern Technologies: Application of Digital Solutions," held in Baku as part of WUF13, Report informs.

She noted that the protection of cultural heritage is an important part not only of cultural policy but also of urban development, and historical monuments are considered a strategic resource.

According to her, modern challenges in this area have become part of state policy, and digital technologies have made it possible to expedite the assessment and inventory of monuments compared to traditional methods.

Yusifova also spoke about work in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, where an inventory of historical and cultural sites has been underway since 2020, and electronic maps and digital databases are being compiled.

She noted that due to the mine threat, an inventory of 130 monuments in the liberated territories has not yet been completed.

The event is being held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will be held in Baku from May 17 to 22.
