Tashkent media forum explores new formats for promoting Islamic heritage

A plenary session titled "Great Historical Figures: New Media Formats for Promoting Islamic Heritage" was held in Tashkent as part of the International Media Forum "Islamic Civilization: A New Perspective – New Discoveries."

According to Report, participants discussed the use of modern media formats, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to promote historical and cultural heritage.

Yücel Kılıçkaya, head of Turkish TRT Avaz channel, expressed the broadcaster's readiness to cooperate with forum participants and stressed the importance of international dialogue on Islamic civilization.

Hasanbey Kondu, chairman of the board of Turkish publishing house Mega Basim, said that despite the rapid development of technology and artificial intelligence, reading books would remain important. He stressed that knowledge and education are also essential in combating disinformation and manipulation.

Victorina Petrosyants, general producer of Italian television company VIKO, spoke about the company's long-standing cooperation with Uzbekistan on projects covering history, archaeology, culture and traditions. She also presented the documentary "A New Universe: The Islamic Civilization Center."

Anastasia Zvyagina, deputy general director of the Russia National Center, proposed organizing Days of Uzbekistan at the Russia National Center in Moscow and Days of Russia at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.

Sherzodkhon Kudratkhoja, rector of Uzbekistan's University of Journalism and Mass Communications, emphasized the need for creative approaches to covering history and adapting historical content to the interests of younger audiences.

Alexey Arapov, an independent researcher and director of SMI-ASIA publishing house, proposed establishing an international research ecosystem dedicated to studying the Timurid Renaissance. He said it could bring together an international network of specialists and create a unified scientific and information database.

Umesh Vohra, head of planning at TRT World in India, highlighted Uzbekistan's potential to become a technological and digital hub of the modern Silk Road. He stressed the importance of digital platforms and interactive technologies in presenting historical heritage.

Gulu Kazimov, head of the Central Asia bureau of Azerbaijan's Xalq Gazeti, proposed promoting Uzbekistan's history and culture through multilingual publications and short documentaries produced with the use of artificial intelligence.

Participants emphasized the importance of bringing together media organizations, academic institutions and cultural institutions to create modern formats that can make Islamic and historical heritage accessible to a broad international audience.
